Kratom powder has become extremely popular in the last few years. The benefits it provides can radically transform your life. However, it’s crucial to know how much to take in order to avoid any negative side effects.
Kratom powder is a natural powder made by drying and grinding kratom leaves. The powder is known for producing a wide variety of effects such as discomfort relief, sedation, stress relief, increased energy, focus, and improving ones mood. It can be consumed on its own, packaged into capsules, or brewed into a tea.
Using personal experience and tons of research as sources of credibility, allow me to further your understanding of kratom powder so you can avoid the mistakes I made and save precious time and money. Ready? Here we go!
What is Kratom Powder?
Kratom, also known as Mitragyna Speciosa, is a tree from Southeast Asia commonly used by the natives for a wide variety of amazing benefits. The natives chew on the leaves to extract the alkaloids Mitragynine and 7-Hydroxymitraynine responsible for producing kratom’s many effects.
Due to how difficult it is to obtain leaves in the Western World, you’re much more likely to find kratom for sale in powdered form. Powder retains the original amount of alkaloids and thus produces potent effects.
Kratom Powder Benefits
The benefits produced by consuming kratom powder heavily rely on the color and strain you use. Each color produces a unique set of effects. However, each color has multiple variants, such as Green Maeng Da and Green Borneo, that will slightly differ from each other even though they are both green strains.
The benefits produced by kratom powder can last anywhere from 3-5 hours.
Red Strains: Red Strains are the most sedative of all colors. They are great for relieving discomfort and stress.
White Strains: White strains are the most stimulating of all colors. They are great for increasing your energy, focus, and boosting your mood.
Green Strains: Green strains are a blend of white and red strains. They are less stimulating than white strains and can also be used for discomfort and stress relief.
Yellow Strains: Yellow Strains are also a hybrid of red and white strains. However, they tend to lean more towards white strains because of their stimulating benefits.
As I mentioned before, not all green kratom powders will produce the exact results. Some green powders are more potent than others. The same is true of all colors.
So, this begs the question, which kratom powder is the best for each effect? Let’s take a look.
Top 5 Kratom Powders
After years of experimenting with various strains and doses, I’ve found the following kratom powders to be the absolute best. Wether you’re looking to relieve body discomfort or increase sedation, these strains won’t let you down.
Green Malay Kratom Powder
Green Malay powder is king of stress relief. It provides a strong euphoria and eases your mind while boosting your energy, making it ideal for daytime use. Green Malay is the most sought after green strain on the market.
Red Bali Kratom Powder
Red Bali is the best powder for sleep. Due to its high alkaloid levels, it’s one of the most popular strains of all time. It also provides powerful body discomfort relief. Thus, making it ideal for people who enjoy sleeping the entire night without nuisances.
Red Maeng Da Kratom Powder
I’ve found Red Maeng Da powder to be the most effective with regard to body discomfort relief. Although Red Bali produces comparable analgesic effects, Red Maeng Da is less sedative and more euphoric. This ideal combination of benefits makes Red Maeng Da powder more ideal for daytime use.
White Thai Kratom Powder
White Thai is the ultimate euphoric powder. Expect to feel a surge of optimism and joy when using White Thai powder. This powerful euphoria can help you increase productivity, reduce social intimidation, and maintain a smile when you’re having a bad day.
White Maeng Da Kratom Powder
Feeling a bit tired? Use White Maeng Da powder to obtain a massive boost of energy. This extremely stimulant strain is perfect for getting the day started. Many people (including myself) have replaced the daily cup of joe with White Maeng Da powder.
How to Use Kratom Powder
So, you’ve chosen your most ideal kratom powder and now you want to know how to consume it. Well, there are three common ways to take kratom powder. However, each method of consumption will vary in potency and the time it takes for you to feel the effects.
Kratom powder can be brewed into an iced tea, or more commonly, brewed. However, if you decide to brew your tea please keep in mind that boiling water will destroy some of the alkaloids in the powder and thus reduce the potency.
To keep alkaloid loss to a minimum simmer your water at around 170 – 180 degrees Fahrenheit instead of boiling it. Kratom tea has been said to have a similar taste to that of Matcha, so if you enjoy earthy and bitter flavors you’ll definitely enjoy kratom tea.
You can reduce the bitter flavor by adding sweeteners to your tea such as honey, almond milk, or milk. If you want to know more about kratom tea and how to prepare various recipes, click here.
Toss and Wash
The toss and wash method is my favorite way to take kratom powder. It consists of taking spoonful of powder on its own then using any beverage to swirl it around in your mouth and swallowing.
Kratom powder provides the most potent results and it does so quickly. However, if I can be completely honest with you, taking kratom powder on its own can produce a very unpleasant bitter taste.
You can diminish the bitterness by flushing it down with cold water or juice, but it’s not going to make a huge difference.
Kratom powder is frequently packaged into vegan capsules for conveniency. You can encapsulate the powder yourself, but that’ll be very time consuming and you would need a capsule machine. I highly suggest buying capsules already packaged and ready to go.
The downside to using capsules is the wait time to feel the effects. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes for your stomach to break down the capsules and to feel the initial effects. The upside is you avoid the bitter taste and powdery messes.
Finding Your Kratom Powder Dosage
Because everyone’s body is physiologically different, it can be very difficult to suggest a specific dose. Factors such as the following influence the way you respond to kratom:
- Food in Your System
What I like to recommend is a very low starting dose in accordance to your weight and adding a gram to the starting dose on a daily basis until you find the perfect dose that works best for you. Just make sure not to double up on the same day while experimenting because doing so will produce very different and weaker results than your first dose.
Kratom Powder Side Effects & How to Avoid Them
Just like with caffeine, taking too much kratom powder can produce side effects. This is why I can’t stress enough how important it is to take the time to experiment with dose size rather than completely guessing and accidentally over consuming kratom powder.
If you take too much kratom powder you may experience the following negative effects:
Luckily, these symptoms will disappear on their own within a few hours. Believe me, I’ve experienced my fair share of nausea and headaches. Speaking for myself, the effects usually go away after 2 hours, but everyone is different so the time may vary.
However, if the symptoms persist you should call your doctor right away.
Kratom Powder vs Extract
Kratom powder is made from the grounded leaves of the kratom tree. Kratom extract is made by boiling kratom powder to extract the alkaloids. This tea like liquid is then simmered until it dries into a type of paste. The paste is then grounded up once more into a powder.
As you may have already guessed, kratom extract is more potent than powder, and both can be consumed in the same ways.
Kratom powder and extract can be very difficult to tell apart. However, extract is darker and produces a more potent aroma because of it’s higher concentration levels.
Because kratom powder and extract can be very difficult to tell apart, it’s crucial that you buy kratom powder from a reputable vendor.
Buy Kratom Powder
There’s so much kratom powder for sale online it’s not even funny. Just like most industries, the kratom industry has become incredibly saturated with suppliers.
However, not all vendors are created equal, so you’ll want to make sure you’re buying from a reputable source.
