What are the Effects of Red Riau Kratom?
It’s been said that the effects of Red Riau kratom resemble a lot of the other classic red strains.
But, it’s not thought to be as strong or potent like Red Thai or Red Bali. For this reason, I think the following effects are great for those who don’t want something as potent or stimulating, but still want to feel the experiences that red kratom strains provide.
If you’re overly sensitive to strains, this one might work great for you. Just remember that each person’s experiences with the effects will be different, especially since it hasn’t been tried by many yet.
Red Riau Kratom Effects:
Since this is a red kratom strain, it’s said to be pretty relaxing and soothing for the body.
What I love about red strains is that they make me feel very chill. I don’t feel as physically tense and I can honestly say that my muscles tend to relax.
Overall, Red Riau kratom can provide some really good soothing effects when you take moderate to high doses.
Alongside the relaxation of the body, I find that it helps relax my mental anxiety.
I am one of those of the millions of people who have to deal with anxiety. It is not fun, especially when it comes unexpectedly or gets triggered by something. I’ve noticed that work stress tends to increase my anxiety.
Luckily, this strain can help reduce it and help manage anxiety better. A couple grams of this can do the mind wonders. Unlike more energizing and extremely potent strains, you won’t be feeling anxious with Red Riau.
Mild to Moderate Pain Relief
Red Riau kratom does have some analgesic properties.
This is because it contains alkaloids that attach to certain neurons in the brain. These then send signals to numb or reduce the pain felt in your body.
One of the main reasons that natives of Southeast Asia love kratom. They enjoy the pain-relieving effects it can provide to certain chronic pain.
Those suffering from arthritis, fibromyalgia, joint pain, muscle aches, back aches, and more can really benefit from higher doses of Red Riau Kratom.
Tons of people who suffer from insomnia and inability to get restful sleep also turn to red kratom strains.
Since Red Riau is more of a classic red, it can really be useful to help you sleep at night. Higher doses will give off more sedative effects.
I recommend you take around 3-6 doses if you’re not new to kratom. Also, try taking it a few hours before bed, just in case it ends up being more stimulating for you than relaxing.
Might be Slightly Energizing
Few people have mentioned that it gives them slight energy at around 1-3 grams. Although this is possible, it’s still not as energizing as green or white strains.
You can try taking a smaller amount during the day if you want a little bit of energy and increased mental focus.
You’ll be feeling relaxed and mellow at the same time or after the energy starts to wear off, which is a plus if that’s what you’re looking for.
What is Red Riau Kratom?
The Southeast Asian country of Indonesia is made up of more than 17,000 islands. Red Riau kratom originated on the easern coast of Sumatra, in the province of Riau.
Originally, Red Riau was considered to be a Sumatra kratom strain, so part of it is just re-marketing. But, others claim there’s a slight difference between the two in terms of alkaloid properties and effects.
Red strains are the most mature leaves. This makes the effects different from the white and green strains. It can be beneficial to provide pain relief and have relaxing effects.
Overall, Red Riau is still a great strain if you like trying new things. The locals love it for the analgesic and medicinal healing properties it provides to many.
Ways to Consume Red Riau
There’s a few ways to consume Red Riau kratom. Two of those popular ones are powder and capsules.
Below are some ways you can enjoy both.
Red Riau Kratom Powder
Kratom powder is the most popular way to consume kratom. It’s also the least expensive. Here are two ways to take your Red Riau Kratom powder:
- Kratom Tea– Start by simmering your measured kratom dosage and once cup of lemon juice for 15 minutes. Add one to two cups of water and simmer for another 15 minutes. You can add some honey and sweetener to sweeten up the tea, and it’s ready to drink!
- “Toss and Wash”- This one allows for the effects to kick in really fast. It’s also my preferred way to take kratom. I start by placing my measured kratom amount directly in my mouth. Then, I quickly take a big swig of water to wash it down. It tastes awful this way but it’s over and done with fast.
Red Riau Kratom Capsules
If you’re not into the taste of kratom, which I don’t blame you, you can opt for the kratom capsules.
The only issue is that they are pre-measured and placed inside a certain capsule size. You’ll want to check the size of the capsule to know how many capsules to take. The average capsule size of 00” contains around 0.7 grams of kratom.
What I really like about capsules is that they aren’t messy at all. Plus, you can take them with you anywhere without worrying about powder going all over the place.
How Much Should You Take?
If you’re a beginner, I always suggest taking around 1-2 grams of kratom powder. But, since this is a but more mild than other strains, you can get away with 1.5-2.5 grams for your first dose.
You can slowly increase the dose by 0.5 grams until you reach your desired effects. Please, never make the mistake of taking way more than you normally do without slowly increasing, or else you’ll ruin the experience and have to deal with the unwanted side effects.
Some of the side effects can include:
- Increased Heart Rate
Below is a chart of how much I recommend you should take.
Red Riau Kratom on Reddit
I looked up Red Riau Kratom on Reddit out of curiosity. There were quite a few threads. Most of the users seemed to have similar opinions on it, saying that Red Riau is a more chill and mild strain.
Below are some of the comments I think would be pretty helpful for you:
“Took 3.5 grams of Red Riau this morning thinking it wasn’t going to be all that as it was on sale when I bought it, an hour later and I’m having the most chill morning ever.” -YaThisIsBigBrainTime
“…I think it feels different in that it’s just not quite as potent tbf. And I did 6g rather than my usual 10-12g…” -Phat-Lines
“Everyone is different but I’ll share what I’ve found, this was from Deep Jungle Kratom. Red Riau was just a less potent Red Borneo but green Riau felt so much better than their green malay! the malay would give me a headache and a speedy feeling. Very uncomfortable. But the Riau however was a great social energy boost. But like I said everyone and every vendor for that matter is different. Experiment! -Opethre
Red Riau Kratom Vs Maeng Da
One of the kratom strains that always gets compared to is the Maeng Da strain. If we’re going to compare Red Riau to Red Maeng Da, they’re actually very similar in effects. Both are more mild and chill.
When comparing Red Riau to Green Maeng Da, there’s a big difference. Green Maeng Da is more stimulating and energizing. Most people like the balance of relaxation and energy that GMD gives.
If you want something more stimulating, go for the Green Maeng Da. If you want something more relaxing and beginner-friendly, get your hands on the Red Riau.
Red Riau Kratom Vs Weed
Some people like to compare Red Riau to weed. Honestly, I find them to be very different. Although weed can be relaxing, I don’t think it provides the same type of experience or energy.
Weed tends to make people feel “high” and almost like your mind dissociates with the body, which is why people describe it as feeling “in the clouds”.
I find that kratom is much more opioid-like, but without all the negative long-term effects. Kratom binds to the mu-receptors and at lower to moderate dosages, you can still have enough energy and mental focus to feel grounded.
