Anyone familiar with kratom will associate Maeng Da with strength – and for good reason. Unlike other strains, which are usually named after a Southeast Asian region, Maeng Da literally means ‘pimp grade’ in Thai.
“Pimp grade” Maeng Da is not comprised of a single strain, but a combination of kratom. This potent kratom meets the demands of users who aren’t satisfied by standard kratoms and need more intense effects.
Due to the strength, Maeng Da strains are perhaps not well-suited to first time kratom users. There’s no point being overwhelmed and ultimately put off by kratom!
How to enjoy Red Maeng Da
There are several ways of enjoying Red Maeng Da kratom, with each method offering some distinct pros and cons.
Tea: Taking kratom in a tea helps extend the duration of effects, while minimizing the plant’s harsh, bitter flavor through the addition of sweeteners (e.g. sugar, honey).
Kratom tea does take some time to prepare, although with powder, you can simply stir it into hot water! Red Maeng Da won’t work as quickly in tea form as some other methods, however.
Toss and wash: This is the most efficient way of consuming Red Maeng Da powder. You literally just toss the powder into your mouth, and wash it down with water. Easy peasy! Unfortunately with “toss and wash”, you can’t escape the bitter taste.
Make-your-own capsules: Feeling creative and have time to spare? It’s possible, with a capsule machine, to make your own capsules using kratom powder! This eliminates the strong Maeng Da flavor altogether.
However, capsules will take longer to kick in than other forms of kratom ingestion, and not everybody digests capsules well. In this case, smaller capsules may be a good option.
